About CORE
George and Patricia Kousaleos founded the CORE Institute in 1990 as a private educational institution dedicated to the highest state and national standards in the profession of massage therapy. The CORE Institute is a fully-owned subsidiary of GEO Touch, Inc., a Florida corporation, and is licensed by the State Board of Nonpublic Career Education, of the State of Florida Department of Education. Core Institute is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. George had been a licensed massage therapist since 1978, specializing in structural integration and myofascial therapy, developing private practices in Munich, Germany, New York City, and Tampa, FL. As a faculty member of the SOMA Institute of Neuromuscular Integration (1979-1989) he taught workshops and certification courses throughout the United States and Europe. Appointed to the Florida Board of Massage Therapy in 1986 and to the National Certification Council for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork in 1990, George has been at the forefront of a national movement towards higher standards of enrollment, education, and competency. With Program Director Philip Arcuri, they have enlisted an outstanding faculty to deliver a comprehensive curriculum that has prepared over 1000 graduates for clinical, medical, athletic, hospitality, and private career settings. CORE Institute has been a partner with international athletic organizatons, including the British Olympic Association from 1994 through 1996 and the Athens 2004 Olympic Committee from 2002 through 2004. With each of these organizations the CORE Institute was at the forefront of organizing Sports Massage Teams that offered massage therapy for training and competing athletes. CORE Institute graduates have worked at the Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics and Paralympics, the Salt Lake city 2002 Olympics and Paralympics and the Athens 2004 Olympics and Paralympics. Many CORE Institute graduates have belonged to sports massage teams that have worked at elite athletic event worldwide. In the past 18 years the CORE Institute has also coordinated lectures and training programs with the Neuroscience Center of Tallahassee Memorial Regional Medical Center, the Florida State University School or Nursing, and various health and wellness courses at Florida A&M University and Tallahassee Community College. CORE Institute has also developed an extensive Community Outreach Program that has enriched many special-needs citizens of Tallahassee.
