CORE Sports & Performance Bodywork

This seminar will examine the four basic styles of performance inherent in all athletic disciplines. Utilizing structural integration and myofascial therapy theories and techniques that are appropriate for each style of performance, participants will focus on developing training and event protocols for endurance, sprint, power, and multi-skilled athletes. Presentations on performance mechanics, somatotypes, and the balancing of the autonomic nervous system will highlight a comprehensive study of advanced therapies for the athletic performer.

2011 CORE Aegean Retreat

About The Instructor
George Kousaleos
George Kousaleos, founder and director of the CORE Institute. George has been an international leader in the fields of structural integration, myofascial therapy and sports bodywork for 30 years. A graduate of Harvard University and the Soma Institute, he served on the Florida Board of Massage Therapy and was the founding chair of the National Certification Examination Council. George was co-director of the international sports massage team for the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics and hosts the CORE Aegean Retreat each June in Santorini, Greece. He lives in Tallahassee, Florida with his wife Patty. They have two daughters and three grandchildren.

Bryan Buckley,
B.A., L.M.T.
Bryan has been a member of the CORE Institute faculty since 1995. He has worked with top-tier athletes throughout his career, including the 1996, 2002 & 2004 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Bryan has been a captain of the Ironman Lake Placid & Florida and was a co-director for the Athens Health Services Sports Massage Team in 2004. He teaches workshops in Sport Bodywork, Myofascial Therapy and Structural Integration. He maintains a diverse private practice in Canada and the U.S., focusing on Somatic Integration and Myo-sport Therapy. Bryan’s ability to motivate those who work with him and his passion to support all athletes makes him a leader who receives international respect. He now resides in Magog, QC., with his wife Nadine, son Gabriel, and daughter Sophia Rose.
